Willett Engineering Company

Willett Engineering Company is independent again, with new but familiar leadership.

As of January 1, 2024, Willett Engineering Company is an independent small business again. Brandon Hoffman, P.E., S.E. has purchased the company from Gray, Inc. and assumed the role of owner and president.

This transition has occurred with encouragement and guidance from founder J. Mac Willett, P.E., S.E., who is continuing with the company as principal engineer of the Port St. Joe office in Florida.

Brandon Hoffman has over ten years of experience with WEC, most recently serving as director of the company. His extensive engineering portfolio includes steel, masonry and concrete structures for a multitude of building sizes and complexities, ranging from retail spaces to distribution warehouses and apartment buildings, among others. He has delivered projects for some of the nation’s largest school districts, for national and international brands, and for reputable architects and contractors throughout the US.

As director, Brandon has increasingly assumed executive duties including team supervision, business development, and daily operations. He has established new best practices for project management that have improved efficiency and communication, and he has expanded the capabilities of the WEC team with a focus on fostering professional growth and talent development for engineers.

Mac Willett has mentored Brandon since the early days of his career.

“Brandon shares my values. He treats people with integrity. He’s bringing fresh ideas but he’s keeping the client at the center,” Mac said. “He’s proven his leadership on our team as director, and I’m looking forward to seeing him grow the company into the future.”

Willett Engineering Company has always operated under two core values: providing structural solutions of the highest quality, and offering the best possible service to our clients. For Brandon, those values are the heart of the company and the keys to its success.

“I want our clients to know that our priorities will never change. Our focus will always be on our clients and our work, on delivering sound structural designs that meet the client’s parameters of budget and time,” Brandon said. “Being an independent small business again only makes it easier to maintain that focus on the job at hand.”

Careers with WEC

Willett Engineering is a standout workplace with unique advantages for engineers of all experience levels. These are the things our current engineers value most about our company:

Teamwork

“I enjoy the approachability of upper management and the willingness others have to help in all aspects of design. Most of the time I can go to anyone in the office for questions or guidance.” – Josh M.

“I love that all team members are willing to collaborate to tackle difficult challenges.”– Laura M.

“What drew me to Willett Engineering was the emphasis on communication and teamwork. Everyone has the opportunity to present methods, solutions, or alternatives to design that will be considered in the development of each project. All opinions are valued.”– John V.

Growth

“I enjoy getting to work on a variety of project types that challenge me both technically and creatively.”– Matt N.

“I like working at WEC because it has a small company feel and still allows me to be exposed to a wide variety of projects. I’m able to design with a variety of materials for a variety of occupancies, from car washes to movie studios. Because we are a small company, I was able to tackle full projects, mostly on my own, a lot sooner than if I was at a bigger company.”– Kailee G.

Culture

“We can work as a team and share the workload that takes the pressure off from tight deadlines. We have wonderful clients that are easy to work with and are professional. And the flexibility provides for a good work-life balance that helps me fulfill my personal and professional responsibilities.”– Matt N.

“We always say the kind of person who’s successful here is the person who wants the ball at the end of the game – someone who wants the challenge and wants to see it through. But hard work is easier when you’re working with friends. Willett Engineering is a friendly place, where we know each other and treat each other well. It’s my intention that it always stays that way.”– WEC President Brandon Hoffman

Willett Engineering is defined by two core values: providing structural solutions of the highest quality, and offering the best possible service to our clients. Engineers with top skills and a mindset for collaboration and growth are welcome to submit their resume at any time.
